Transfagarasan road is 92 km and is crossing Fagaraș Mountains. The speed limit is 40km/h, so simple math is telling us that 2,5 hours should be enough. But it’s not. Actually, driving this road is not easy peasy. It’s full of serpentines and switchbacks- just have a look below. But this is also part of its charm and that’s why the drivers love it. Plus you want to stop a few times for photos, shopping or a hike. Also it depends if you are planning to go on weekend or during the week. I don’t recommend weekend or public holidays as it gets really crowded.
So how long does it take to drive the Transfagarasan? My advice is to plan one full day for Transfagarasan to really enjoy it. Find out also what you must see on Transfagarasan here.
