Romanian mamaliga recipe

If you visited Romania at least one time,  for sure you tried mamaliga or polenta as it’s called in English.

It’s so easy to make, you need just 3 ingredients:

  • 1 l water,

  • 1/4 kg cornmeal (Romanian “malai”),

  • 1 teaspoon of salt

Let’s see the Romanian mamaliga recipe:

  1. Pour 1 liter of water into a pan and wait until it’s boiling;

  2. Add salt into the water;

  3. Pour slowly the corn flor into the water and stir continually with a whisk every 3 minutes for about 15 minutes at low temperature on the stove.

  4. That’s it!

It can be served with Romanian telemea cheese, sour cream and fried egg and you have a tasty quick dinner. Or you can eat it as a side dish with Romanian traditional sarmale (stuffed cabbage rolls).
