Which is the closest airport to Transylvania Romania? Actually there 3 in Cluj (CLJ), Targu Mures (TGM) and Sibiu (SBZ). Although the one from Targu Mures is called Transylvania Airport Targu Mures (and many sites are naming it the closest airport to Transylvania), it’s NOT the best option if you want to discover Transylvania since there are is not much to do in this city and nearby. The best option to visit just Transylvania is Sibiu International Airport (SBZ) if you want to spend some unforgettable time. Why Sibiu? Sibiu, is Romania’s little Vienna, an amazing city where you have lots of things to do and visit.

Also, Sibiu is a good place to stay (there so many accommodation options for all the budgets) and close to so many attractions. To name just a few Transfagarasan – the best road in world and Transalpina – the highest road in Romania.  The original Dracula Castle is just 3 hours driving away.
