Transfagarasan aka the best road in the world is any driver’s dream. There are lots of things to do around, but avoid to go there on weekends in the summer. If you are planning a roadtrip, check out where to stay in Transfagarasan and what to see on the most beautiful road in the world as Top Gear mentioned!
-
Picturesque villages of Transylvania. Take your time to discover them: Viscri, Biertan, Saschiz, Crit are all worth a visit. Try to book a room in a traditional guest house to fully enjoy the places and the Romanian hospitality. Not to mention the Romanian delicious food (no diet, please :)!) and the Romanian “tuica”. If you’re looking for cheap places to visit in Europe in May, come here. The experience is however priceless.
-
Alba Iulia – an amazing city where you can sleep in a hotel right in the middle of the citadel. Quite an experience!
-
Transalpina – the highest road in Romania is a must if you are a true driver. I still couldn’t decide which road is more beautiful: Transfagarasan or Transalpina? Better check them out for yourself :). Read all about the tourist attractions here and where is the best place to stay on Transalpina.
-
Brasov is a must stop during your trip to Romania. You’ll love the Old Town and there are plenty of things to do and visit in Brasov.

Dracula’s Castle – of course the most important castle of Transylvania! It is really fun to visit it and see how real the legend is. Find out the best hotels in Transylvania near Dracula’s Castle. Also this is best place to try Romanian traditional food like sarmale, mititei or tripe soup.
